Manchester City have completed the signing of French winger Achraf Hakimi from Bayern Munich for £62 million, with the deal including a reported £15m in add-ons.

Hakimi is expected to become the most expensive player in Premier League history and will join City's squad ahead of the new season.

The move comes after City manager Pep Guardiola revealed his desire to sign a world-class winger last month, and Hakimi has been seen as the ideal candidate.

He has scored 18 goals and provided eight assists in 74 appearances for Bayern since joining from Roma in 2019.

City boss Guardiola said: "We're delighted to bring Achraf Hakimi to our club. He's one of the best players in Europe and we're very excited about what he can bring to our team."

Hakimi has also attracted interest from other top clubs, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, but City were able to secure his signature by offering him a lucrative contract that includes significant bonuses.

Guardiola added: "Achraf Hakimi is a special talent who brings a lot of quality to our team. We believe he can help us win more titles and trophies."

Hakimi is set to make his debut for City against Arsenal on Saturday evening, while his first Premier League goal could come against his former side Bayern on the same day.
